This photo shows a mock-up of the 5-link rear suspension. EMT conduit was used for the control rods. It is difficult to use a trailing arm design in a mid-engine sandrail due to the lack of space alongside the engine. This is particularly true with the wide VW and Porsche motors. You can see in this photo that the 5-link design is similar to an A-arm, but has an extra control arm that keeps the wheel straight. |
